I felt this with Proust more than with anything else I’ve read.I’d like to say that I just finished The Man Without Qualities, but there remain the chapters Musil took back from the printer, drafts, &c.
I was thinking of that book as you were excerpting it. I just finished Knausgaard's 1200-page 6th volume of My Struggle.
Wow. I suppose that reading experience must make everything else seem a little minor by comparison.
